This is angering →
I understand free speech and have a really high tolerance for bad lyrics (I love Britney for goodness sake), but this is ridiculous. The song is explicitly condoning lynching which is unacceptable in any way, shape, or form. This really pisses me off. Really, really, really, really, really, really. What a savage moron. He has no perspective: It doesn’t matter if he wrote the song himself or...

SO EXCITED!
EMILY IS ON 16TH STREET RIGHT NOW!!! WE ARE GOING TO LUNCH, yay! I am so glad I get to see her before I leave! I was somewhat distraught!
I am so cool
Just had an argument over serial comma usage and new words made by Americans with London office.
Mark it in the “Win” column for moi.
Phase I of project Conquer Great Britain underway.
Vanity Fair Best-Dressed →
A lot of this is BS. Kate Middleton? She looks like any British equestrian but always with a stupid hat. Michelle Obama? Two good outfits do not a fashion icon make. Evelyn Lauder? She generally dresses like any middle-aged woman in America who’s read one issue of Vogue (and has cash to burn). Any of the royals. That’s just silly. Same goes for the hall of fame inductees. Minus Fran....

Awesome shirt →
Note how they left the “contoured to flatter women’s curves” in the description. Haha, but still an awesome shirt.
On that chat, that is definitely not an example of clitic doubling (I don’t think it ever happens in English), but that line was too good to pass up.
How I spent the day at work. Note: Juan is my...
Benjamin Gillespie says: reading up on my clitics. Don't get excited now, it's completely grammatical.
Juan Muniz says: I'll ask you not to use that type of language in the office, please.
Benjamin Gillespie says: haha
Benjamin Gillespie says: Well, Swedish is full of enclitics. English has a few, but not enclitic articles. That is quite interesting.
Juan Muniz says: all sorts of jokes are coming to mind. but i am a professional after all
Benjamin Gillespie says: We prefer proclitics.
Benjamin Gillespie says: feast on that one
Benjamin Gillespie says: you use a proclitic probably every 3rd sentence if not more often
Juan Muniz says: hahaha. feast on that one
Benjamin Gillespie says: I am a pro.
Benjamin Gillespie says: "I'm a pro" contains two clitics. Don't get too excited, now.
Benjamin Gillespie says: a double clitic, if you will
Juan Muniz says: wow
Benjamin Gillespie says: it has an enclitic and a proclitic.
Benjamin Gillespie says: Keep it in your pants. This is a professional office.
Haha
So I got home last night and was DEAD TIRED. Oh my goodness. So I went to bed at 7 without eating dinner, thinking I would just take a nap and wake up around 8 or so…fast forward to this morning, 5:30 when I finally woke up. Haha. At least I woke up in time to make it to work at 8.
But now I am starving, as I haven’t eaten since lunch yesterday at 1, and my breakfast was the Odwalla I...

Adorable. For Elise. →
Leaving Aug. 2nd to arrive in GA on the 4th. Be aware. Be prepared. There is much hanging out to be done and fun to be had.
Okay, I will stop posting British articles....now.... →

Language Code for Bosnian:
BO. I feel that BS would be better. Obviously I have nothing to do right now at work. Maybe someone had a bad dating experience with a Bosnian. BN isn’t taken either!

But Dowd isn’t my super favorite. There is something that resonates about it, though. I mean…that joke he provided is awful. If I can’t make fun of someone, I don’t like them. Granted I make fun of whomever I please, but that’s not the issue. That New Yorker cover was just dumb, so I understand the reaction, but the Stewart-Colbert stuff et al is what is strange.
I am useless
The London server is down…so there is nothing to do at work. So I am on here. Someone went to get Starbucks…I wish I had gone. Instead I sit here updating this mabob.
In other news, I now have skype. That’s the IM we use for work. So add me if you use it: ben_gillespie@wordbank.com. At least I think that’s it. Woo.

The first day of work...
So today was my first day at Wordbank.
It went pretty well, I must say. I mean, there’s only so much one can do when utterly unfamiliar with the office and work. I was trained today and will hopefully really do work tomorrow (I did practice translation verification and competency stuff, ending the day by working on a real project in tandem with my boss, well, really, just offering inane...

Actually, the Armani Collezioni for Neiman Marcus this year is the strongest they’ve had in a while. I mean for any men’s brand. NM has been week for a few years, but with collections like this they will be back on top. It’s superb. I must have it all. Please?

In other news...
Practice is going excellently the past few days. Serious improvement in some areas I have really been frustrated by, so it’s nice to see that. Picked up Calvino’s Cosmicomics today which looks SO good and right up my alley. Left Mme Leslie a voicemail to catch up sometime soon, so that will be fun. I need to work harder for my class…but now everything else seems more interesting....

Denver Archdiocese to Pay $5.5 Million in Abuse... →
So I recognize that the victims of sexual abuse deserve recompense for what they suffered…but the church would have used this money to help people in need today…I just wish it could be settled/handled differently. I’m not catholic, but it’s terrible that their church has to use funds meant to serve the masses to serve a very small number of people, even though they are...
I got the job!
Wordbank just offered me a position, yay! Now my summer of death by boredom is about to at least have more money and excitement in it!
